The Walbrook is a subterranean river in the City of London that gave its name to the Walbrook City ward and a minor street in its vicinity. The work is inspired by the ancient Walbrook river which flowed on this site.
Water runs over multiple layers of cast bronze. Winner for Excellence in Fountains Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias was commissioned, among others, to create a site-specific work for the new Norman Foster-designed office for Michael Bloomberg’s European staff. Cristina Iglesias’ water sculpture in three parts, ‘Forgotten Streams’ – a homage to the ancient Walbrook River that once flowed through the site – defines the public spaces at each end of Bloomberg Arcade.”
